OClassical is a concert listing site.
Musicians and promoters can add
details of their forthcoming events; concert goers can search or browse to find
events.
The site offers concert goers a number of benefits.
- Every concert has its own page, with a link to where to buy tickets.
There are no distractions, animations, advertisements or irrelevant links.
- You can create your own automated mailing lists, containing any number
of artists, composers or works. For example, if you add the Messiah to
your list of ‘favourites’, then, whenever a promoter uploads details of a
performance of the Messiah, you will receive an email with details
of the concert. Similarly, you can include performers (whether soloists,
ensembles, choirs or orchestras) in your list of favourites, and receive
an email every time they announce a new concert. You will be the first to
know, and can get the best tickets.
- The front page of the site can be customised to show concerts in your
own area. You don’t need to register or log in – just click the
“choose where” link.
- You can search by any combination of criteria: artist, composer, work,
venue or dates. Then you can save your search so that you can return later
and run the same query again without having to type it all in again.
You can save any number of searches
- You can subscribe to the RSS feed for the site and receive
automatic notifications of all newly added concerts, either nationally or
in your chosen areas.
- The site is designed to encourage browsing. The text on concert
pages is all linked to related pages. You can quickly explore other
concerts by the same artists or at the same venue, or other
works by the same composer, or other performances of the same works.
You can discover new events that you were not specifically searching for.
- Every artist, composer, work and venue has its own page, which
includes all forthcoming concerts and the most recent past concerts.
These pages contain a link to the artist’s (etc.) own web site
(if there is one).
- Venue pages have an embedded map showing the precise location
(not just the postcode location, which is often inaccurate).
- For some concerts you can buy tickets directly on the website.
